Island Dreams – 8″x8″ – Acrylic on Wood Cradled

Even though there was a huge snowstorm here the other day, today the sun is shining brightly and we are getting closer and closer to the official start of Spring.  I am especially looking forward to the warmer weather as I will be able to get back to another passion of mine – gardening!  I love being out in the garden and growing a wide variety of flowers which provides me with a lot of  inspiration for paintings.

This painting “Island Dreams” was inspired by a trip I took two years ago to Hawaii and the South Pacific, where the gardens are more than a little inspiring!  It was there that I fell in love with the beautiful Frangipani flowers (also known as Plumeria).  Even their scent is intoxicating and is used everywhere there in oils and lotions.

Until the weather warms up and I can start the garden again, the dreams of warmer days and the beautiful flowers of the Islands will have to do!
