Recently I had the opportunity to teach a Halloween Workshop with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton as part of the Oakville Art Society’s Community Art Outreach Program.
The children were a creative group ranging in age from 8-12 and were ready to get painting but listened intently as I told them what we were about to do. I also told the children and their matches a little about the Community Art Outreach Program and how it provides free art supplies and classes to groups such as themselves as well as Nelson Youth Centres, Halton Women’s Place, and SOAAR (Adults with Autism and Developmental Disabilities). I told them that we are all excited about the upcoming Starry Night Gala coming up on Nov.20 as it is to raise funds for the Program and that it would be a great if they could help spread the word.
At the end of the class a young girl very proudly presented me with this wonderful gift as a Thank You. It was such a beautiful gesture and I tried not to cry! She just looked so thrilled as she gave it to me and it really made my day.
This is just one of the many reason I love teaching art to these groups for the Program as I have found them to all be so incredibly appreciative of the classes.
With the Gala just 2 weeks away, make sure you get your tickets now and come help us support a wonderful Program!
See you Nov.20!
