Artist Statement
My fascination with Nature and in particular the vibrant colours of flowers, provides me with inspiration for many of my paintings. I paint in Watercolour, Acrylic and Mixed Media Collage, emphasizing the colour, line, and sometimes texture of my subject matter which ranges from flowers, animals, seascapes and other scenes found in Nature to Abstracts. I enjoy painting loosely and quickly using a semi-impressionistic style to express the joy and happiness I feel from the subject, and from painting itself. With watercolour, I love the vibrancy of the medium on the white paper, the delicacy it lends to the subject matter and the excitement and unpredictability of wet on wet washes of strong colour on the paper. When painting Acrylic Mixed Media pieces, I enjoy starting without a plan or definite subject matter in mind. Focusing on the colours and textures and working intuitively until gradually over time after several layers, a glimpse of a subject or focal point starts to appear. I enjoy the process with each medium and style, and I love the surprises along the way as each painting leads me to its completion.

Thank you for stopping by my blog as it led me to yours. We both have a love of depicting the shapes, colours and moods of nature in watercolour and acrylic a bit of mixed media (and for me painting watercolour technique on silk and encaustic art). It is all challenging fun isn’t it.
Thank you! I enjoyed your artwork and website too. I think it’s that challenging fun that keeps us creating! Happy painting and thanks for stopping by!
